Welcome to a website dedicated for WAJA owners. We hope
that we can provide some beneficial information for current
and intended owners. It is our wish that members obtain the
optimum enjoyment out of the WAJA by providing information,
discussion, merchandise and practical advice, in addition
to bringing together and keeping in touch with those of like
mind and passion for the WAJA. The essence of WPC's objectives
can be summarized below,
a. Enjoying your WAJA;
b. Making new Friends;
c. Sharing your Joy and Pain; and
d. Having fun.
We will be frank and realistic with members. Whilst the membership
does not offer any special privileges, WPC also does not offer
any promises. The club is alive as long as the members wish
for it to stay alive. The Club may have a finite life and
lose momentum within a few months or years. It would be unrealistic
to expect that people may not graduate to other vehicles in
the meantime over the course of time and forget the WAJA.
What we do wish is that your time here with WPC brings you
fond memories. We assure that you will be ENRICHED with new
acquaintances and WEALTHIER with automobile knowledge exchanged
within WPC.
The
Beginning
The WAJA Performance Club was an informal club in its early
stage of gestation in late 2000. Primarily, the idea of a
club for WAJA owners was mooted in the discussion forum of
Autoworld at www.autoworld.com.my where topics regarding the
Proton WAJA were discussed be various forum participants both
prior to and after the official launch of the WAJA on 8th
of May, 2000 at Stadium Malawati in Shah Alam. Keen interest
was shown as the then existing Proton WIRA model was to be
replaced after an illustrious 8 year dominance with a new
car that supposedly was 100% designed by Malaysians and had
a composition ratio of 80% of components sourced locally.
The various discussion centred on the WAJA’s engine capacity,
handling, performance, build quality, etc. It was through
these said discussions informally for a few members to propose
and moot the idea of a legally incorporated club to focus
the discussions, achieve a homogeneous or otherwise source
of information and harvest ideas about the WAJA, warts and
all, from a few enthusiastic owners. It is our wish that members
obtain the optimum enjoyment out of the WAJA by providing
information, discussion, generic merchandise and practical
advice, in addition to bringing together and keeping in touch
with those of like mind and passion for the WAJA.

Driving
the Future Setting the Standard
The club motto is desired to reflect the aspirations, expectations
and realisation of our dream of what Proton is we hope is
evolving into.
Club
Logo
WPC's logo adopts a new logo based on the Proton WAJA as depicted
in the panel. "WAJA Performance Club" appears in the logo
while "WPC" appears to emphasize that WPC embraces Proton
in the spirit of friendship and unity in its pursuit of a
common goal while retaining its unique identity. In principle,
the word have been balanced with the above and below logo
to depict uniformity and oneness of purpose of the members
while the WAJA word is solid in its form retains its character
as the bedrock and anchor where the source of support is derived
from.
Driving the Future
WPC firmly believes that the Proton WAJA is Proton's benchmark
in terms of styling and handling which Proton has best desired
and strived to incorporate the wishes of its customers based
on feedback. Being an automotive manufacturer where the design
process was truly in its grasp and the ultimate future of
the local automotive industry hangs in the balance, Proton
has not cannot afford to make mistakes with the WAJA as its
destiny lies within its own hands. WPC in sharing this aim
adopted the motto, "Driving the Future" to symbolise the advent
and introduction of the WAJA which we hope will drive Proton's
Future. Setting the Standards WPC believes that it is not
and will not evolve into a rubber-stamp club nor silent supporter
of Proton when required. WPC will state the facts as it finds
them and state the obvious where others fear to tread. It
must be understood that WPC is not a consumer group nor serves
any partisan interests be it political or activist, local
or foreign. WPC in its discussions and review of the WAJA
seeks to actively highlight deficiencies and problems in the
WAJA for the benefit of Proton and ultimately WAJA owners.
The standards set and the feedback relayed, we hope will become
the norm for the future. We hope it is reciprocated by Proton
for everyone's benefit.
