Get Defensive Driving Training
In keeping with its aim of promoting motoring safety, the
Waja Performance Club (WPC) organised a Defensive Driving
Course at the Shell Safety Driving Academy which is within
the Batu Tiga Racing Circuit in Selangor. Though the academy
was originally set up by Shell Malaysia primarily to train
tanker drivers, it is also used for other types of driving
courses by other organisations. The facility has a well laid-out
course and a skid pad which is can be covered with water.
Participants
undertook a one-day defensive driving course to improve on
their driving skills with particular emphasis on safety. Modules
comprised of:
- Crash avoidance;
- Skid control; and
- Emergency Braking.
Interspersed
with the practical lessons were communication of driving techniques
by various instructors who were readily available to answer
any queries from members. Members were allowed the option
of using their personal vehicles, the WAJA, or using vehicles
made available by the driving academy. WPC has conducted 3
defensive driving courses for 40 members arranged by 2 professional
driving academies, SADRA and TeamMatrix Sdn Bhd, with more
than 15 years of automotive racing experience to conduct the
course, which was held in various spots around Shah Alam.
Upon completion of the course, participants were awarded with
graduation certificates y the academies administrator.
Side Mirror
Spraying
A unique identifying feature of WAJA members would be the
non-compulsory spray painting of side mirrors. Adopting pre-launch
photo’s, WPC had collectively decided that the identity of
WPC members would be further enhanced by painting the WAJA
side mirrors at half-moon level. Pioneer members completed
the task of painting the side mirrors, which was conducted
at a reputable automotive painting specialist. In future,
with more members, WPC will conduct regular events such as
the above to enable those members who have missed out to catch
up with the rest. In addition, WPC also proposes to undertake
to commit resources to organizing the following activities
for the benefit of members
